Artisans mine and carve soapstone, also known as kisii stone, from extensive quarries in western Kenya's Kisii Town. Artisans in Nairobi add a colorful finish featuring the giant of the savanna, the African elephant. Since the natural dyes used will change color upon contact with liquids, we recommend this bowl for decorative use only.
