This extremely useful and stylish desktop accessory is hand carved from kisii stone by Gusii (Abagusii) artisans living in Kenya's southwestern highlands. Kisii District is one of Kenya's less developed areas, but the carvers are recognized worldwide for their ability to work the soft stone into both realistic and abstract sculptures, as well as useful items like this coin box.

Most kisii stone creations are sold to craft producers throughout Kenya, and each applies their own unique process to attain the finished product. This trinket box and it's matching desk accessories come to us from Richard's workshop. Richard excels at finding beads, brass and other traditional Kenyan art objects to complement the natural beauty of kisii stone.
