Kisii Stone Card Box with Brass Emblem
#rmbq-07
Availability: In stock
Soapstone is a metamorphic stone found in various regions throughout the world, including Kenya. It is locally known as kisii stone, since the bulk of Kenya's soapstone comes from the Kisii District in the southwestern corner of the country.
Kisii stone is similar to talk, and the stone varies in color from pure creamy white to white with red, yellow and even black veins running throughout. The veins of color result from various mineral deposits in the stone.
Several Abagusii families in the Kisii area earn income by sculpting soapstone into functional and decorative objects.
The card box, enhanced by a stylized brass emblem, provides simple desktop storage for cards, coins, paper clips and more.
