Availability: Limited quantity available
Our woven placemats, crafted by rural Wolof women in Senegal, bring together natural and recycled materials in a highly artistic way. Using typha stalks (cattails) and strips of plastic recycled from rugs and prayer mats, the women create beautiful table adornments that your customers can treasure for years to come.

Traditional Wolof weaving relied mainly on natural materials, but when the plastic strips currently used emerged, the women gained a rainbow of colors and lost the harshness of weaving with razor sharp reeds.

Sold singly. Each placemat includes an information card signed by the weaver.

Origin: Senegal
Size: 16"D
Materials: Typha (cattail) stalks, plastic
