The beauty of exotic African hardwoods shines in these diminutive turned storage jars. Created from sustainably harvested mpingo and pau ferro by rural artisans in the Nampula Province of Mozambique, the sophistication of these decorative jars stands in contrast to the extremely rural locale where they are crafted.
Mpingo is a rich dark wood sometimes referred to as African blackwood, Mozambican ebony, grenadilla and zebrawood. Pau rosa, known locally as pau ferro, is a beautifully grained hardwood related to rosewood. When placed together, the two woods complement one another beautifully.
