These stylish turned mpingo wood storage jars feature unique lids reminiscent of the long pointed horns of gemsboks and other antelopes of the genus Oryx. Crafted from sustainably sourced mpingo wood by artisans living in Mozambique's vast miombo woodlands, these sophisticated storage jars are as useful as they are beautiful.
Mpingo wood is the Kiswahili word for the dark hardwood also known as African blackwood, Mozambican ebony, grenadilla and zebrawood. Used to create some of the world's finest woodwind instruments, mpingo grows prolifically in Mozambique's miombo woodlands and coastal forests.
