Lindo is the Portuguese word for gorgeous, a fitting term for these handcrafted mpingo and pau rosa salad servers. Created by rural artisans living in the vast miombo woodlands that stretch across northern Mozambique, each server displays the rich carving tradition artisans are keeping alive today by exporting their unique creations.
Mozambique was a Portuguese colony for nearly 500 years, and Portuguese is still the nation's official language. Mozambique won independence from Portugal on June 25, 1975, then spent nearly 20 years embroiled in the Mozambican Civil War. Now that war has ended, Mozambique is striving to stabilize its economy, a promising goal, since the nation has vast natural resources intact and world-renowned artists and writers emerging steadily.
Server sets are available in three sizes.
