We tried human figure sculptures in sandalwood once before, but there were a few design flaws that resulted in ultra-fragile, wobbly statues. This time, we went back to the drawing board with artisans in Maputo and came up with better ele (he) sculptures.

Three sculptures are hand carved from the aromatic wood of African sandalwood. The ele wears a coat with buttons and stands sturdily on two legs firmly affixed to the sandalwood base.
