Sandalwood bottle sculptures have been a mainstay of the Swahili Imports catalog for several years now, and these new bottles up the ante where the contrast between smooth polished wood and rough inner bark are concerned.

Each bottle is hand carved by artisans near Maputo, Mozambique, from aromatic African sandalwood. This highly prized wood grows prolifically in Mozambique, and post-war efforts to conserve Mozambique's forest resources keep its harvest regulated to help ensure the health of the woodlands.
