African holiday ornaments have turned out to be such a hot item around the holidays, so we're including as many artisans as possible in creating ornaments to include in the Swahili line. Here is one of UniquEco's ornaments, crafted from flip flops that wash up onto the beaches of the Lamu Archipelago off the Kenyan coast.

The beautiful thing about the UniquEco project is that it provides fair trade income to a variety of individuals, from Swahili teenagers and mothers who collect the flip flops to the Nairobi artisans who carve them into unique creations. Every item sold helps spread the word about the need for increased awareness of marine conservation worldwide.
