Leslie visited Marvelous of Tanzania in October 2009 to work up some new designs with Flotea and her talented seamstresses.

These beautifully vibrant jioni (Kiswahili for evening) purses are meticulously stitched from colorful kangas, the wardrobe staple of East African women. Artfully juxtaposing the contrasting areas of the kanga, each seamstress also works in a cute decorative ruffle, fun textured handles, an interior cell phone pocket and an exterior zippered pocket.

These bright bags are perfectly sized for an evening out or for little ladies-to-be.
