The balaphon is a traditional West African percussion instrument that resembles a xylophone. Created by master Ghanaian balaphon builder and player Christopher Doozie, each small balaphon includes six wooden notes with calabash gourd resonators of decreasing size, and the larger instrument includes eight wooden notes. The entire piece is lashed with strips of goatskin.
This beautifully tuned African musical instrument is as inviting to the eye as to the hand. Mallet included.
