Ghanaian artisans in Kumasi, the heart of the Asante kingdom, hand carve these richly detailed stools from the wood of cedrela trees, a fast-growing plantation species.
The form is styled after the renowned Golden Stool of the Asantes, with the Nsaa Adinkra symbol as the central element. The Nsaa symbol represents excellence, genuineness and authenticity. Additional carved patterns grace the seat and edges of the base.
Each stool is stained with a rich dark brown stain. Shapes will vary slightly.
