Toilet Talk

Terrible Toilets vs No Toilets at All
Author: Leslie Mittelberg

After years of living and traveling in Africa, I have learned this cardinal rule: ALWAYS bring toilet paper! Away from the amenities of the major metropolitan areas and resorts, it can be a challenge to find a toilet, and a certain impossibility to find one equipped with toilet paper. Public toilets are dirtier than the most neglected rest area in the US, and many times I've opted for the relative cleanliness and privacy of tall grass or a well placed tree. If you find a clean hotel as you travel, take advantage of the facilities while you're there, rather than wait to see "what's up ahead" .
