Baggage Restrictions Can Weigh You Down!
Author: Leslie Mittelberg

Before you leave home, find out the airline policy on baggage and weight allowances. It's strange, but true: the allowable amount on your way into Africa may be considered double the maximum upon departing. What do the airlines think you did with the other half of your clothing??? The price you pay for the extra weight could be as much as the plane ticket itself, so beware!

I often carry the largest allowable carry-on bag. I put all my heaviest items in this bag and pretend it is light . Hide this bag while you are checking in your other luggage.

Make sure your bags get on the flight! For security reasons, all the baggage is placed on the runway, and you must remember to claim them so they will be loaded into the hull of the plane. If you don't claim your gear it will remain there forever.
