Local Children

Learn the customs before you get too friendly.
Author: Leslie Mittelberg

Find out from a knowledgable source how you should behave. You may think you are doing the kids a favor by giving them sweets or money, but this is not a good idea. It teaches the children the wrong lessons. Not only are the sweets terrible for their teeth, the money makes them believe that all foreigners are rich and it encourages begging. If you must give them something, make it something they can use for educational purposes, such as penils, pens, paper or books.
