In Southern Sudan, a network of 800 women, the traditional guardians of the
nilotica shea nut tree (called
lulu in Arabic) convert the pure, rich oil of the shea nut into soap, sugar scrub, body butter and lip balm.
Processing lulu oil not only preserves a time-honored Sudanese tradition and brings income to a region where it is desperately needed, but it also gives the world access to a beautiful aspect of Sudanese life.
