Swahili African Modern Brings Sustainable Handmade African Gifts to IGES-Sevierville

Eugene, OR – [October 31, 2024] – Swahili African Modern is excited to announce its participation in the IGES-Sevierville gift and souvenir show, where we will exhibit a unique collection of artisan-made gifts and souvenirs crafted across Africa. Our showcase, located within the Sustainability block, will offer zoos, aquariums, and other eco-conscious retailers an opportunity to explore handmade items that celebrate Africa’s diverse cultural heritage and commitment to sustainable practices.

At this year’s IGES-Sevierville Gift and Souvenir Show, Swahili African Modern will offer a range of eco-friendly, artisan-crafted products ideal for conscious buyers. Highlights include:

  • Animal Sculptures – Unique, handcrafted animals shaped from recycled metal oil drums, banana leaf fiber, colorful beads, soapstone, and jacaranda wood.
  • JusTea™ Kenyan Tea – Fresh, flavorful tea blends sourced directly from Kenyan small-scale tea farms, providing an authentic taste of East Africa.
  • Zambian Forest Honey from 10,000 Beekeepers™ – Sustainably harvested, raw honey sourced from Zambia’s remote forests, supporting local beekeepers and forest preservation.
  • Conservation Cause Bracelets by Relate™ of South Africa – Handmade beaded bracelets that support conservation efforts and uplift communities through employment and social impact.
  • Handwoven Baskets and Tableware – Artfully woven baskets and hand-carved wooden tableware crafted using traditional techniques.

Swahili African Modern works with artisans in 14 African nations, offering market access and sustainable livelihoods through beautiful, handcrafted products. Our collection is rooted in the celebration of people and their artistry, giving each item a meaningful story to share with customers. IGES-Sevierville provides an ideal platform to introduce these products to buyers seeking unique sustainable merchandise for their gift shops.

“Swahili African Modern is thrilled to meet with buyers at IGES and share how our products can enhance their retail selections while encouraging the work of African artisans,” said Darla Saarela, CEO. “We’re committed to building global connections that empower artisans and bring their stunning craftsmanship to new audiences.”
